Can You Only Get Viagra From a Doctor?

“Sorry I ran over your cat.” “It’s not you, it’s me.”

Sometimes we all have to have difficult conversations. For most men, “I’m struggling with erectile dysfunction (ED)” is one of them. It would be great if we could talk openly about the challenges we all face in the bedroom, from time to time, but the fact is starting these conversations can be difficult. Sometimes they can feel impossible.

This is probably why the thought of queuing up at your local GP, to ask your doctor about Viagra – also known as Sildenafil – fills you with dread. Is this normal? Will they laugh? What do I even ask for?

If only there was another way!

Well, to answer your first question: yes. ED is incredibly common. In fact, by the age of 40 around 40% of men will have experienced it. Any medical professional who knows their stuff will be able to put your mind at rest: yes this is normal, and there’s plenty you can do about it.

That said, you might be interested to know that there is another way… and has been for some time.

It used to be the case that Sildenafil (the active ingredient in Viagra) was only available through an appointment with a doctor. It was the responsibility of this medical professional to ensure the drug was safe for you to take. But this changed in 2017 when the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) opened access up to pharmacists (following a consultation) for it to be available over the counter, sold as Viagra Connect.

This has totally opened up access to the drug. Following a few questions, a trained pharmacist can ascertain whether you are safe to take the drug and sell Viagra Connect or Sildenafil to eligible patients over the counter.

It’s all online!

Here at Manual, we’ve taken the next logical step and put the pharmacists online, meaning you can get prescribed Sildenafil from the comfort of your bed. Complete a quick online questionnaire so we can work out which treatment plan is right for you, and you’ll be ready to go. The little blue pill will be delivered, discreetly, to your door – and at a fraction of the price!

We realise “online pharmacist” might not have the same ring to it as “doctor”, but don’t worry. All of our prescribing pharmacists are registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. They know their stuff, inside and out. Not only will they ensure your safety, but they’ll also take the time to make sure they get the right medication for your needs and lifestyle. They are the experts in medicine use and will help tailor your needs into a personalised bespoke plan.

Keep talking…

Talking about ED is hugely important. The more we share our experiences, the less of a big deal it’ll seem. A couple of simple conversations can be the difference between total chaos and peace of mind.

But finding the words isn’t always easy, so why not make the first port of call one of our advisers. We’ll get you up to scratch on your options and equip you with the knowledge you need to find a solution.

Unless, of course, you’d rather get in that 7 AM walk-in queue at your GP’s. Your call!

We’re offering treatment from just £15, delivered to your door in an unmarked box. No more trips to the doctor, no more worries. Phew.
